Warehouse management in the high-bay warehouse
SERTO Group
The challenge - system replacement in the central logistics hub
The SERTO Group is a leading Swiss manufacturer in the field of tube and connection technology. At its headquarters in Frauenfeld and other locations in Europe and Asia, it produces high-precision components such as fittings, couplings, valves and complete assemblies - used in industries such as medical technology, mechanical engineering, energy supply and mobility. With around 300 employees and a modular system approach, SERTO supplies flexible solutions for the transportation of liquids and gases.
In the course of the ERP migration to SAP S/4HANA, the connection to the central high-bay warehouse in Frauenfeld had to be rebuilt as the existing solution was no longer compatible with SAP S/4HANA. The new solution was introduced in such a way that operations could continue at all times without interruption and full integration into the existing infrastructure was guaranteed. Another key objective was to completely transfer the existing warehouse data from the previous solution, ensure a stable material flow and make warehouse management fit for the future.
Implementation with iDIP - digital warehouse management with SAP connection and conveyor integration
The following main functions were implemented with iDIP:
- Warehouse management: iDIP handles the entire physical storage process for handling units in the high-bay warehouse. The software controls storage, retrieval and transfer operations as well as the optimization of storage locations - independently of the SAP system, with iDIP acting as a decoupled black box and at the same time forming the central interface to the high-bay warehouse.
- Intralogistics control: The transfer to the high-bay warehouse takes place via two conveyor systems on two floors. iDIP orchestrates the transfer processes between incoming goods, warehouse and outgoing goods efficiently and automatically.
- Dashboards: Integrated dashboards are used to visualize warehouse statuses, movements and material flows in real time. This transparency supports daily planning and operational management.
- Work instructions: Employees on the store floor benefit from a user-friendly interface with clearly structured instructions and process steps - adapted to real needs and supplemented by error handling logic.
The result - stable operation and a modern basis for future use cases
With the iDIP platform, the SERTO Group was able to put its warehouse operations on a new technological footing without interruption. The high-bay warehouse was replaced by the old system on time - including the complete transfer of warehouse data.
The new solution is not only fully functional, but can also be flexibly expanded: employees can react independently to changes, adapt processes and implement additional use cases - such as traceability or quality control. This lays the foundation for scalable digitalization in the field of intralogistics.
"iDIP enabled us to replace our warehouse management system on time and at the same time make it fit for the future. We were particularly impressed by the flexibility of the platform and the seamless integration into our existing SAP landscape."
